SPRINGFIELD, Vt. and CHARLESTOWN — Annabelle Estey Talkington, age 92, formerly of Springfield, Vermont and Charlestown passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the home of her granddaughter in Largo, Florida. She fought a courageous battle with cancer for several years.
Annabelle was born on June 12, 1926 in Ashuelot the daughter of Charles and Louise Martin.
She was a member of the VFW Post 771, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 679 of Springfield, Vermont and the American Legion Post #67 in Chester, Vermont.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald A. Estey in 1986, a daughter, Eileen Cichon in 2016, her parents, a brother, “Pat” Martin, and a sister, Mary Dodge.
Annabelle leaves one son, Don W. Estey, his wife Donna of Jacksonville, Florida, one daughter, Charlene Castellana, her husband Tony of Largo, Florida. She will also be greatly missed by three grandchildren: Michael Clarke Howard and Michaelle Clarke Sheldon of Florida and Charles Kathan of New Hampshire along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In 1991, she married Jack Talkington in Springfield, Vermont. Sadly, Jack passed away in 2008. Annabelle loved her extended Talkington family which includes John and Nancy Talkington, Judy and Fred Magness, Jill and Norman Clark and cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Annabelle enjoyed knitting and made sure everyone she loved had a special blanket of their own — made with love. She was never elderly — ALWAYS YOUNG AT HEART. She loved cooking, dancing, entertaining, pool parties and she loved to laugh … and make everyone around her feel special and loved.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor, Vermont. A celebration of Annabelle’s life will take place following the cemetery service at the Springfield V.F.W. at 2 p.m.
