Otter Valley 6, Springfield 3
BRANDON, Vt. – Cosmos’ Greg Otis pitched a complete-game 5-htter with 3 strikeouts.
“We lost today but the guys played well,” said Springfield head coach Justin Devoid.
Jake Stepler was 1-for-3 with and RBI and 2 stolen bases, and Otis was also 1-for-3. The Cosmos fall to 2-8 and host Bellows Falls on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Fair Haven 15, Windsor 1
WINDSOR, Vt. – Parker Morse tossed a two-hitter as Fair Haven had an easy time at Windsor Wednesday taking down the Yellow Jackets, 15-1, in a mercy rule game called after five innings.
After taking a 2-0 in the first inning, the Slaters put nine runs on the board in the third inning to turn the game into a rout.
Justin Smith was the starting pitcher for Windsor with freshman Adam Dufour coming on in the fifth.
The win brought the Slaters to 7-2 while Windsor dropped to 3-6.
Both teams play again on Thursday with Fair Haven going to Rutland and Windsor to Hartford for night game.
Far Haven ace Aubrey Ramey will take the Hill for the Slaters in that game against the 3-4 Raiders, who are coming off a big victory at Brattleboro.

Springfield 10, Fair Haven 4
FAIR HAVEN, Vt. – The Slaters cut the lead to 4-3 in the fourth inning but Springfield responded with 2 runs in each of the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings to seal the game.
Hannah Crosby pitched a 3-hitter for the Cosmos, with all three hits coming in that fourth inning. She had 9 strikeouts on the day.
“Much of our offense came from eight walks, a few timely hits, and some help from infield errors and wild pitches,” said Cosmos head coach Andy Bladyka. “Hannah threw strikes and we played pretty solid defense.”
Haley Streeter had a key double in a 4-run first inning, and Julianna Albero-Levings had a 2-run double to build the lead in the sixth.
Springfield moves to 6-2 (4-0 in the MVL), while Fair Haven drops to 6-3.
West Rutland 4, Green Mtn. 3
WEST RUTLAND, Vt. — West Rutland rallied for three runs in the fifth to overcome a 3-1 deficit and beat Green Mountain 4-3 in a big matchup of title contenders in Marble Valley League softball Thursday.
The victory kept the Golden Horde perfect at 8-0 after they beat the 6-2 Chieftains for the second time this season. WR is a top Division IV team while GM competes in D-III.
Kasey Serrani was hit by a pitch by Erica Knockenhauer to start the rally and after a sacrifice bunt by Kiana Grabowski, Alissa Covarrubias swatted a two-out, RBI double. Bailey Sevigny tripled for another run to tie things before winning pitcher Elizabeth Bailey drive in her own winning run with a single.
“I didn’t know if we had the fiestiness that we needed but they did rally and I’m very impressed with my girls,” said Westside coach Laurie Serrani.
West Rutland also threw out two runners at third base, once by Bailey and another time by catcher Kiera Pipeling.
“We did some good stuff,” said Serrani.
The pitching lines were very similar in this one. Bailey scattered seven hits, struck out seven, walked six and hit two batters.
Knockenhauer allowed six hits, struck out seven, walked two and hit two batters.
Rachel Guerra had a triple and Maddy Wilson and Alex Hutchins had two hits apiece for Green Mountain.
West Rutland will travel to Blue Mountain on Thursday.
Windsor 23, Bellows Falls 4
WINDSOR, Vt. – The Yellow Jackets were aggressive at the plate on Wednesday, totaling 14 hits across the 5 innings of play.
Windsor took a 6-run lead in the first inning and added 2 more in the second. They closed the door on the Terriers by adding 11 runs in the third.
Peyton Richardson led the Jacks, going 3-for-3 with 4 RBIs. Hannah Wood went 2-for-2 including a 3-run homer in the big third inning.
On the mound, Richardson threw all 5 innings, striking out 6 and allowing 5 hits and 6 walks.
Windsor is now 3-6 and will host Rutland on Friday.
