Harold S. Putnam

WALPOLE — Harold S Putnam, 91, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019. Harold was born in Walpole on Aug. 30, 1927, the son of Elmer and Helen (Pierce) Putnam. He was a graduate of Walpole High School and was owner and operator of Pierce-Putnam Insurance in Keene. Harold was a member of the Lions Club and past district governor. He was an avid snowmobiler for 50 years and member of the Hooper Hills Snowmobile Club, he was member and president of Hooper Country Club, a member of the Walpole Conservation Commission, and a lifelong hunter. In 1949 he married Avis Jeffrey who predeceased him. Surviving are his sons Kerry Putnam of Swanzey and Jeffrey Putnam of Alstead; his daughters Daryl O’Brien of Jacksonville, Florida and Karyn Barry of Dyersburg, Tennessee; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. There will be calling hours 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 20 at Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls, Vermont. A memorial service will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 21 at the Walpole Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Fall Mountain Food Shelf, PO Box 191, Alstead, NH 03602.
