CROYDEN — Ivan A. Truell, 80, died at Woodlawn Care Center in Newport after several years of declining health. He was born on November 10, 1938 in Newport to the late Roy Truell, Jr. and Jeannine (Goyette) Truell.
Ivan was raised in Newport and has lived in Croydon since 1964. Over the years he worked for Joy Manufacturing, Bryant Grinder Corporation, and the City of Hanover. He was a member of the Local United Steel Workers Union for years and held many officer positions. He was part of the Claremont Beagle Club and was also a member of the Croydon Volunteer Fire Department.
Ivan was predeceased in 2013 by his loving wife of 54 years, Ramona (Page) Truell, his parents, his in-laws, Norman and Barbara (Blanchard) Page, and his brother-in-law and his wife, Leroy and Donna Page.
Surviving family include his sons, Allen Truell and his wife, Maria of Yorktown, Indiana, Keith Truell of Orlando, Florida; brothers, Elroy Truell Sr. of Claremont and Michael Truell and his wife Joanne of Newport, sister Linda Young of Charlestown; grandson Brian Truell of Yorktown, Indiana; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Page and Kathy Page of Massachusetts, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Croydon Flat Cemetery on Camel Hump Road in Croydon.
The family wishes to express their deepest thanks and appreciation to the staff at Woodlawn for their excellent care and warm compassion during the years of Ivan’s stay at the nursing home.
