CONCORD — The Senate voted today to pass HB 582, which reallocates distribution of RGGI funds to increase investment in energy efficiency. Rep. John Mann (D-Alstead), prime sponsor of the legislation, released the following statement:
“I’m excited to see our colleagues in the Senate agree with the House that energy efficiency is the most effective way we have to reduce energy usage and costs. A steady program of implementing energy efficiency, which this legislation enables, will provide new jobs and accelerating wealth to our economy. Utilizing efficiency programs to reduce energy usage will allow our businesses to prosper while saving hundreds of millions of dollars annually on fuel imported into our state.”
“While it may be natural to continue to fixate on ‘energy rates,’ what really matters to taxpayers is ‘energy bills.’ Energy efficiency means less energy usage and lower energy bills. I thank the Senate for its strong vote on this critical legislation.”
