GRANTHAM — Alden “Chick” Pillsbury, resident of Grantham, passed away at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, on May 16, 2019.
Chick was born on June 19, 1930 to Dorothy Howard Pillsbury and Merton Pillsbury the third of six children. He graduated from Lebanon High school class of 1948 and afterward joined the Air Force January 1949, he attained the rank of staff sergeant. Chick was a town selectman, planning board member, and avid golfer. After 11 years of service, he retired in 1992 as manufacturing manager of New Hampshire Industries. Prior to that Chick was a supervisor at Split Ball Bearing in Lebanon, and at Micro-Precision in Sunapee. He was active in his community, and oversaw the development of Eastman while serving in his capacity as planning board chairman.
Chick traveled across the U.S. twice with both Mary and Earline, and to the islands of Guam and Hawaii.
Chick was preceded in death by his siblings: Dorothy “Jean” Pillsbury, Merton Jr. “Cap” Pillsbury, Evelyn “Red” Howard, John “Skipper” Pillsbury; wife Earline Ray Pillsbury and his second wife Mary Moulton.
He is survived by his sibling James Pillsbury; children: Mickey Pillsbury, Ellen Pillsbury, Bernard Moulton, and John Moulton; grandchildren Kevin Barton, Kristy Pillsbury, Tim Pillsbury, Devon LaBelle, Lana LaBelle, Jennifer Moulton, Katherine Moulton, Nicole Barton, Palmer Braga, and Josh Pillsbury; great-grandchildren, Megan Heath, Emily Heath, Molly Heath, and Ella Pillsbury; as well as extended family and friends.
Calling hours will be Friday, May 24 at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home in Newport from 5-7 p.m.
Services will be held Saturday Morning, 10 a.m. at New Grantham Town Hall, 300 Route 10 S, Grantham, NH 03753. Fred Davis from Springfield will officiate, reception to follow.
