Fund services for struggling families

To the editor:

As a parent educator at TLC Family Resource Center, I know all too well the most difficult challenges New Hampshire families are facing today. With our lack of affordable child care and the opioid epidemic devastating the Granite State, many families are in need of support services.

At TLC, it is our mission to promote the optimal health and development of New Hampshire children and families, because strong families lead to strong communities. We provide a range of comprehensive family support services, including: home visiting programs, substance addiction recovery resources, family advocacy, and much more.

However without vital state funding for our work, we cannot provide families with the support they need.

I urge the New Hampshire State Senate Finance Committee to include 1.5 million dollars a year to support contracts for family resource centers in the 2020-2021 budget. Without this funding, parents will be forced to go without services that they and their children desperately need.
