Dana R. Lantas

NEWPORT — Dana R. Lantas, 73, passed away on May 28, 2019 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center from a sudden heart attack.

Born on May 17, 1946 to Alexander and Leola (LaFountaine) Lantas, Dana was a life-long native of Newport. He worked as the head of maintenance at Bittersweet Housing in New London. He was in charge of the Newport Veteran’s Club for numerous years.

Dana was an avid gardener and walker — you could often see him walking around Pine Grove Cemetery, where he’d visit his father. He enjoyed fishing, the ocean, visiting Old Orchard Beach, watching any Boston sports team, and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his parents; his sister, Rona Burbee, and his brother, Thomas Lantas. Surviving family includes his son, Sean Lantas and his girlfriend Cassie Wright of Newport; his daughter, Megan Bell and her husband Jason of Sunapee; his significant other, Lyndley Gillick; and his grandchildren, Marley and Vaelyn Bell.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Dana’s name to Newport Veteran’s Club, 118 John Stark Hwy, Newport, NH 03773.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 1 at 10 a.m. at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St. Newport, NH 03773.
