Once upon a time at the Eagle Times

To the editor,

Looking at that photo (May 24) of the old Eagle Times Building at 19 Sullivan Street brought back memories of when I had a summer job in 1961 while I was a student at UNH. My job entailed sending out papers to out-of-state subscribers, running an addressograph machine and assisting with the sorting of the paper as it came off the press, usually at around 11 p.m. I could walk home from my work so I enjoyed it. Mrs. Clark, the owner, had me and other part-timers for lunch at her home; she was a most gracious lady.

I was fortunate to find summer work during my college days. Another summer I worked at Joy Manufacturing Company driving an electric lift truck at union salary while I brought blueprints to the men at their machines.

Let’s hope the old Eagle building can be put to good use in sober housing.
