ACLU offers free training workshop in Leb

LEBANON — The next ACLU of New Hampshire’s free Advancing Civil Liberties Training takes place at the Lebanon Public Library, 9 E. Park Street, on Thursday, June 20 from 6-7:30 p.m.

ACLU-NH is building a cadre of activists to advance and defend civil liberties in their local communities and statewide according to Field Organizer Steve Kidder. “A key part of this movement is connecting elected officials with their constituents, including holding those officials accountable for their decisions. 168 new NH State Representatives took office this year — and most have yet to be engaged by their constituents on civil liberties issues.”

Participants in the free 90-minute workshop on Advancing Civil Liberties learn about civil liberties priorities, including ongoing efforts to reform the criminal justice system, stand up for LGBTQ and immigrant communities, and advocate for racial justice. ACLU-NH trainings provide the space to develop community and demonstrate a variety of ways to influence elected officials, so you can start taking action and drive change.

“Folks can stop by the Lebanon Farmers’ Market in the park and then stroll right across the street to join us,” says Kidder. “No tools or special skills are necessary, but a phone, computer, and friends are always more than welcome.”
