ROCKINGHAM, Vt. — On June 10 at approximately 7:51 p.m., troopers with the Vermont State Police responded to Vermont Route 103 near Brockways Mills Road for a report of a motor vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, witnesses stated that the male operator of the vehicle had since fled the scene. Other witnesses provided statements that 2007 Honda Accord had been travelling at an extremely high rate of speed, passing vehicles at unsafe locations, and almost running vehicles off the roadway. A Windham County Deputy who passed by the vehicle captured it on RADAR at 128 mph in a 50 mph zone.

Investigation determined that the operator was traveling too fast for the roadway and was not able to maintain control of the vehicle while negotiating a turn in the light rain. There were approximately 300 feet of skid marks as the vehicle lost control, striking a guardrail. The Accord was totaled by damage to the rear end.

Matthew C. D’Entremont, 25, of Stow, Massachusetts returned to the scene of the crash and identified himself as the operator. He was uninjured. D’Entremont was subsequently arrested for leaving the scene of an accident, grossly negligent operation, and excessive speed. D’Entremont was transported to the Vermont State Police Westminster barracks for processing and was released on a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windham Division on July 30 at 8 a.m. to answer to the listed charges.
