John Koloski

CLAREMONT — John Koloski, 69, of Claremont, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Friday evening, June 7, 2019. He was born Aug. 6, 1949, in Newport, where he graduated from Towle High School. John proudly served in the Air Force for four years in Germany and in Texas. He was employed at Dorr Woolen for several years and later, Sturm Ruger for 31.5 years, both in Newport. He was a member of the American Legion Post 29 for over 30 years and the VFW Post 808 for 10 years, both in Claremont. He attended every military funeral and held the American flag every Memorial Day and during the Alumni Parade. John enjoyed making people laugh, helping people and planting his garden. He had the best vegetables in the neighborhood and always had plenty to share. He loved sitting in his backyard listening to music and was a great dancer. He and his wife enjoyed going camping during the summer. He loved spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 23 years Ruth Koloski, son Nick Koloski and stepdaughter Jen Bailey, all of Claremont; and daughter Pamela Stronge of Vermont; four sisters, Bonnie Avery and Marsha Day, both of Newport, Pam Aubin of Cape Cod, and Tina Lavigne of Unity; also, by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by father John Koloski Sr. and mother Charlotte Koloski Lavigne; stepfather Mickey Lavigne; sister Linda Koloski; and daughter Jessica Koloski. A celebration of John’s life will be scheduled at a later date.
