Rural PRIDE announces Rep. Bunker as guest speaker

CLAREMONT — Rural Outright, a community program of TLC Family Resource Center, is pleased to announce that state Rep. Lisa Bunker will be one of several speakers at Rural PRIDE 2019 on Saturday, June 15, from noon to 3 p.m., at Barnes Park in Claremont — rain or shine. The event is free, family-friendly and open to the public.

Lisa Bunker has written stories all her life. She will be bringing her book “Zenobia July” to the event. The book, released earlier this year, is about Zenobia, or Zen — a transgender girl and her struggles to be accepted by her family and to fit in at a new school.

Before setting up shop as a full-time author, Bunker had a 30-year career in non-commercial broadcasting, most recently as program director of the community radio station in Portland, Maine. Bunker has also lived in New Mexico, southern California, Seattle and the Florida panhandle. She now lives in Exeter with her wife, also an author, and a cat.

In 2018 she was elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives. She has two grown children. When not writing, Bunker plays piano, practices yoga, plays chess, and studies languages.

The event will also feature other entertainment, activities, local agencies, and a wide variety of vendors.
