TUNBRIDGE, VT — Since 2001, the Jenny Brook Bluegrass Festival has been bringing some of the brightest lights in roots music to the Tunbridge Fairgrounds, and the 19th edition promises to be among the most star-studded yet. This year’s festival features twenty artists performing over five days, including GRAMMY and International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Award-winners such as the Earls of Leicester; Darin & Brooke Aldridge; and The Gibson Brothers.
Jenny Brook is the perfect showcase for both veteran performers like Larry Stephenson and Nothin’ Fancy, as well as acts who represent the present and future of the genre, such as IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year the Po Ramblin’ Boys. As one of the region’s most well-established roots music festivals, Jenny Brook has proven a consistent draw for top national and international touring acts.
Performances take place across three different stages throughout the day, allowing for a degree of intimacy impossible at most mainstream music festivals. Reflecting Jenny Brook’s commitment to both honoring and advancing the bluegrass tradition, the programming invites attendees to listen, learn and interact with the music. There are fascinating artist talks; community jams; a Bluegrass University for adult beginners; and a Kids Academy for little pickers—with “students” being given the opportunity to perform on the Main Stage by the end of the festival.
Jenny Brook is an immersive experience for the whole family, featuring campsites with electrical and water hookups as well as rough camping spots included with your ticket; programming from morning till late into the night; and even a mini movie theater for family entertainment.
As has become tradition, Jenny Brook will open with a Barn Dance & Potluck featuring the Malpass Brothers. The impressively be-pompadoured duo have shared stages with the likes of Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson and Doc Watson, and they will bring a silky-smooth traditional country-western sound to their first time play-ing the Barn Dance—perfect for festivalgoers to loosen up in preparation for the revels to come.
This year’s dance will be held in the Fairgrounds Pavilion to accommodate increased attendance.
