ASCUTNEY, Vt. — The Southern Windsor County Regional Planning Commission (SWCRPC), in partnership with the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (VT DEC), will be hosting a public forum to discuss stream reclassification.
The purpose of the forum will be to explain reclassification and its implications. We will also explain and request from affected municipalities statements of comment or support for designation of candidate Outstanding Resource Waters, candidates identified for re-classification to Class A(1) or Class B(1), or candidates identified for reclassification to Class 1 wetlands. These candidates are based upon recommendations in the 2018 Basin 10 Tactical Basin Plan and the 2015 Basin 11/13 Tactical Basin Plan.
Among those candidates for reclassification outlined in these Plans within Southern Windsor County include: From A(2) to A(1) or B(1) for aquatic biota and habitat, Springfield Reservoir and its tributaries in Weathersfield; an unnamed tributary to Mill Brook in Ascutney; recommended for outstanding resource waters, Buttermilk Falls, Branch Brook in Ludlow; Cavendish Gorge, Black River in Cavendish; and Comptu Falls, Black River in Springfield.
The forum will be held at the SWCRPC offices located at 38 Ascutney Park Road, Ascutney, Vermont at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 11.
If you wish to attend, please RSVP to Chris Yurek at [email protected] by no later than close of business on Friday, July 5.
