WINDSOR, Vt. — The American Precision Museum hosts its first Young Hacks Academy “Agent Training” tech camp for grades 5-7 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., June 24-28 at 196 Main St., Windsor.
“Agent Training” uses technology to develop real-world leadership skills. “The next generation of problem-solvers needs to be equipped to confront the big challenges facing the world today,” says Scott Davison, the museum’s education director. “During camp, participants come up with a project that raises awareness of important local and global issues like climate change, homelessness, and endangered wildlife. These kids are really coding for a cause.”
Daily missions use Scratch, a cool programming tool to create interactive games and stories quickly. And as keen as the museum is about exploring technology, the week-long program also includes unplugged time for outdoor fun — treasure hunts, riddle relays, and other team-building activities provide a healthy balance to screen time.
No prior programming experience is required. For students with advanced Scratch skills, AT Plus projects offer higher complexity and customization. Scholarships available.
