CLAREMONT — Doris Yvonne Roy, 84, of Claremont, died peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2019, at her home. She was born in Berlin on Aug. 29, 1934, the 10th child of Edgar and Corona (Danneau) Jutras. She was the first of her family to graduate from Notre Dame High School in Berlin. She was employed in Washington, D.C., while her future husband was in the service. Upon his return, she married Donald Roy on June 25, 1955. They would have celebrated their 64th anniversary later this month. They brought up two sons, James and Jon, while they pursued their future in funeral services from Berlin to Windsor, Vermont, to Claremont and established the Roy Funeral Home in April 1973. She was the secretary for many years. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, a former member of the Jay Cee Janes (Windsor, Vermont), a member of the Red Hat Society, the French and Quota clubs. She was a cancer and open-heart surgery survivor. She is survived by her husband Donald of Claremont; her sons, James (Lori) of Claremont, and Jon (Sheila) of Strafford; eight grandchildren, Michelle of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, Benjamin (Kate) of Beverly, Massachusetts, Timothy (Amber) of Barrington, Kayla and Hayleigh of Claremont, Nicholas of Keene, Zachary Schucart of Merrimack and Jordan Schucart of Claremont; six great-grandchildren Reagan, Calvin, Turner, Leah, Mason and Pierson; three sisters Cecile (Francis) Croteau of Carrollton, Maryland, Rose (Romeo) Cote of Enfield, Connecticut, Lorraine (David) Roy of Northboro, Massachusetts, and Dade City, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents; five brothers, Maurice, Roland, Emile, Robert and Paul; four sisters, Alice Murphy, Irene Valerino, Eva St-Hilaire and Rita Michaud. We would like to thank the Lake Sunapee Visiting Nurse staff for there continued care and supportive service for Doris and her family. A Mass of Christian Buril will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 21, St. Mary’s Church with the Very Rev. Shawn M. Therrien officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the Roy Funeral Home, 93 Sullivan St., Claremont, on Thursday evening from 5 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Claremont Soup Kitchen, P.O.
