Weather Watch

Rain, rain go away

Summer starts Friday, June 21, and that will be most welcome, especially if it brings with it warmer days and nights and lots of sunshine, ingredients that have come up lacking in recent weeks.

Sunday’s weather did little to encourage back-yard barbecues on Father’s Day. It was cloudy and chilly. Saturday wasn’t totally bad once the sun popped out at midmorning. Although there was plenty of wind, that was offset by the temperature that reached in the low 80’s.

If you’re planning to hike up Mount Washington you can have your pick of temperatures. At 1,600 feet the 8 a.m. the temperature on Monday, June 17 was 55.7. At the summit, 6,288 feet, it was on the chilly side at 37.8.

And as the new weather week started Thursday, June 20, rain was forecast to arrive. However, the upcoming temperatures on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday are projected to be in the mid-80’s. And no rain is in the forecast.
