House gives final approval to energy efficiency bill

CONCORD — The House of Representatives voted to pass HB 582, legislation relative to the regional greenhouse gas initiative. Rep. Bob Backus, chair of the House Science, Technology and Energy Committee released the following statement:

“Energy efficiency is the cleanest and most effective way we have to reduce energy usage and costs. House Bill 582 enables an enhanced program of energy efficiency, and will provide new jobs and accelerating wealth to our economy. Utilizing efficiency programs to reduce energy usage will allow our businesses to prosper while saving hundreds of millions of dollars annually on fuel imported into our state.”

“Energy efficiency means less energy usage and lower energy bills. I look forward to the Governor signing this bipartisan legislation into law.”
