House votes to send minimum wage to governor’s desk

CONCORD — The House of Representatives voted 207-143 to adopt the committee of conference report for SB10, relative to the state minimum hourly rate. The bill will go to the Governor’s desk after final passage by the Senate. Rep. Brian Sullivan (D- Grantham), chair of the House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services Committee released the following statement:

“New Hampshire is the only state in New England that still allows the federal government to set our minimum wage. Senate Bill 10 proposes a gradual increase of the state’s minimum wage to $10 per hour for 2020 and 2021 and $12 per hour for 2022 and beyond.”

“This legislation was a priority of both the House and Senate, and I’m proud of the bill we’ve produced. It is a reasonable, measured approach to increasing our minimum wage here in New Hampshire over the next three years. Senate Bill 10 is a step in the right direction towards hardworking Granite Staters being able to make ends meet and participate in our economy, and I urge Gov. Sununu to sign it into law.”
