CLAREMONT — Parenting is not easy. At times all parents feel lost or without a clue about what their child might need from them. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child was really asking from you.
TLC Family Resource Center will offer a free eight-session group that will help participants learn how to recognize what their child needs from them — even before they can tell them.
“Circle of Security (CoS) is an evidenced-based parenting program founded on decades of research regarding how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened,” Maggie Monroe-Cassel, TLC’s executive director, shared when announcing the program. “Using the model developed by the Circle of Security originators, our trained home visitors work with parents and caregivers to help them: understand their child’s emotional world by learning to read emotional needs; support their child’s ability to successfully manage emotions; enhance the development of their child’s self-esteem; and honor the innate wisdom and desire for their child to be secure. Home visitors Holly Bee and Barbara Brill will co-facilitate this series and are both Registered Circle of Security Parent Facilitators.”
The program will begin on Tuesday, July 16 and run for eight consecutive weeks from 2:30-4 p.m. at TLC’s main office at 109 Pleasant St. in Claremont. Advance registration is required by calling or emailing Crystal @ TLC Family Resource Center (603-542-6848 ext. 311) or [email protected]. Registration deadline is July 15 and space is limited. Childcare is also available.
