Kim Varney elected regent of Reprisal Chapter DAR

NEWPORT — Kim Varney Chandler of Hancock has been recently elected Regent of the Newport based Reprisal Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Chandler was admitted to the Daughters of the American Revolution in 2007 to the Comte de Grasse Chapter in Yorktown, Va., In 2012 she transferred to the Reprisal Chapter in Newport. Chandler has served as chapter vice regent and chaplain. She has served the state organization through several chairmanships, including website development, and this year holds a National chairmanship of the Public Relations and Media Committee.

Chandler has a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and a Master of Arts degree in counseling, both from the University of New Hampshire. She has been a professional school counselor since 1996 and a school counseling director since 2006. Chandler has been the School Counseling Director at ConVal Regional High School in Peterborough since 2012.

Chandler has been a member of the Peterborough Rotary Club since 2012 where she chairs the Operation Santa Committee and has served as president and treasurer. She served on the Board of the ConVal Community Scholarship Dollars for Scholars from 2012-2014 and was a Board member of Monadnock at Home from 2015-2018. Chandler enjoys genealogy research, photography and kayaking. She lives in Hancock with her husband, Marshell, and her dog, Pemi.

Chandler and the members of the Reprisal Chapter cordially invite women interested in genealogy and history to attend the group’s monthly Saturday afternoon meetings for the interesting historical programs presented.

The DAR is the largest women’s service based organization in the country founded on patriotism, historic preservation and education. Any woman who is a direct descendant of a man or woman who either fought for American Independence or aided its cause is eligible for membership.
