SUNAPEE — George R. Perry Jr., 79, passed away on July 20, 2019 at Sullivan County Healthcare after a long decline of health.
George was born on Dec. 16, 1939 to the late George R. Perry Sr. and Barbara (Johnson) Gerbutovich in Hartford, Conn. After graduating high school, George served in the U.S. Navy. From there he went on to become a jack-of-all-trades. The majority of his occupations included working in sales, where he was always able to lure in a customer with his friendly smile or a playful joke.
Forever the avid socializer, George could often be found walking to Sunapee Harbor or to the Community Store. He loved to entertain new people with magic tricks and clever one-liners. His sense of humor will be sorely missed.
George was very involved in church life, becoming an ordained minister to further spread his love of the Lord.
He is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Barbara Shattuck.
Surviving family include his children, Diana Perry, Gregg Perry, Richard Perry, Philip Perry, Norman Perry, Russell Perry, and Louis Perry; his grandchildren, Samantha Ward, Marissa Perry, Hunter Perry, Ashlea Perry, and numerous others; many great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Shirley Perry.
A memorial mass will be held on July 28, 2019, 11 a.m. at Lake Church, 314 Sunapee St, Newport, N.H. 03773. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Sullivan County Healthcare.
