NEW LONDON — Superintendent Winfried Feneberg is pleased to share the official word of the 2019-2020 school year at Kearsarge Regional School District: Commit.
This is the 12th year a word has been selected as a theme for students and staff to work towards at Kearsarge Regional School District. Past words of the year have included “joy,” “quality,” “inspire” and “engage.”
“This school year, I chose the word ‘commit,’ because we’ve undertaken some large initiatives and projects recently as a district and I want our community to take time to dedicate themselves to our goals, embrace challenges, celebrate success, triumph over adversity and commit to being the best we can,” Superintendent Feneberg said. “Our goal is to better support our students to be college and career ready, and to provide more opportunities for them to grow, challenge themselves and develop their voice.”
Educators at Kearsarge will be working on several initiatives this school year to better serve and prepare students for college and career readiness upon the completion of their educational program, and will be implementing and refining competency-based education district-wide, putting in place a process to identify student needs utilizing a multi-tiered system of student supports and providing specialized instruction to meet the needs of identified learners.
Teachers will continue to use technology as a tool to enhance student learning. The new district website and other communication strategies will also be utilized to better inform students, staff, parents and guardians of ongoing efforts, achievements, events and other district-wide news.
The district also hopes to increase student engagement and personalized learning opportunities by expanding community partnerships. A comprehensive effort is also under way this school year to analyze the culture and climate in all district schools. Additionally, students, teachers and parents are actively engaged in finding collaborative ways to support learning environments that embrace student voice, effective teaching, clear communication and respectful interpersonal relationships.
The Kearsarge Regional School District also continues to develop its community of educators who are passionate about teaching, committed and highly skilled, and will be working to improve its policies and procedures for staff as well.
