MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — The New Hampshire Council of Churches is going to honor a woman who fought for the repeal of the death penalty and another who served as a chaplain at the state prison for women.
The Nov. 2 dinner in Manchester will present the “Work of the People” award to Barbara Keshen, chair of the New Hampshire Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty, for her faith-rooted leadership in the repeal this year. The group was originally formed by the council.
The program will also include recognition of Pastor Beth Richeson, the past Ecumenical Chaplain to the women’s prison. Richeson will be leaving the state to move closer to her family after 15 years of dedicated ministry to the incarcerated women of New Hampshire.
