PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Dartmouth men’s soccer secured its first road win of the season on Saturday as Tiger Graham scored in the 55th minute to boost the Big Green to a 1-0 victory at Penn.
The Big Green (5-5-1, 2-1-0 Ivy) move into second place in the Ivy league standings with four conference matches left to play, while the Quakers (4-5-2, 1-1-1 Ivy) fall into a four-way tie for fourth place.
Goalkeeper Alex Budnik pitched his third shutout of the season with four saves.
After Dartmouth’s first shot went wide, Budnik was put to the test, making his first save in the in the 17th minute. The Big Green then fired the next five consecutive shots from the 21st to the 42nd minute but they were all blocked by the Quaker’s defense.
Budnik made his second save in the final seconds of the first half to keep the game scoreless at the break.
It did not take Dartmouth long to find the back of the net in the second half. In the 55th minute, Braden Salvati slipped the ball past the defense to Zach Kalk who found Graham for the game winning goal.
The Big Green defense held off Penn’s attempt to tie the game, withstanding six shots over the final 25 minutes. Budnik capped it off with his final save in the 82nd minute.
Dartmouth plays its final non-conference test of the season on Tuesday at 4 p.m. against Hartford at Burnham Field.
