CLAREMONT, N.H. (AP) — A former education official in three New Hampshire school districts and teacher has been accused of two counts of misdemeanor sexual assault.
The Valley News reports that 78-year-old George Caccavaro turned himself in to Claremont police on Monday and was released on personal recognizance bail. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer; a message was left at a possible number.
Caccavaro was a substitute teacher in Claremont from February 2017 to February 2019. The police and school district said in a news release Tuesday that the alleged conduct took place this February. No details were given.
Caccavaro was most recently business administrator for the Newport school district. The interim superintendent said he resigned from his position on Monday.
Caccavaro also was business administrator for the Mascoma Valley Regional School District. He served for a time as Claremont mayor.
