Roundup: Windsor, GM heading to finals

By Staff Report
MANCHESTER, Vt. — The Windsor field hockey team is headed to the Division III championship game after defeating Missisquoi Valley 5-0 on Tuesday.

Hannah Wood led the offense with two goals and an assist followed by Alyssa Slocum and Angelina Bigwood with a goal and an assist each. Karen Kapuscinski finished the day with the last goal. Peyton Richardson contributed an assist.

Slocum’s goal came off from a penalty stroke.

“We practiced on the field turf in Hanover to get ready for turf field conditions,” said Slocum after the team’s recent game against Montpelier. “Coach Wood wanted us to be ready for a fast game and it was good to have those practices on turf.”

Windsor came together and played as a team, outscoring Missisquoi 28 shots on goal to 4; and 16 penalty corners to 3 as Missisquoi goalkeeper Kali Farreau-Ward was called upon to make 21 saves.

Madison Leduc (1 save) and Glenna Ricard (2 saves) split time in goal for Windsor.

Windsor improves to 13-2-1 and plays the winner of No. 2 Lyndon vs. No. 3 Stowe on Saturday in the championship hosted at UVM.
