CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A former New Hampshire correctional officer is facing charges he assaulted and threatened to shoot an inmate who he transported from the state prison to a medical appointment.
Roger Provost, an 18-year-veteran of the New Hampshire Department of Corrections, has been indicted on a variety of charges in Hillsborough County Superior Court in Manchester.
The Concord Monitor reports the 53-year-old Provost was on duty at the time of the alleged incident on July 13, 2018.
The indictment says Provost pointed a firearm at the inmate while saying something to the effect of “give me a reason to shoot.”
Provost, whose employment was terminated last October, is due in court Nov. 15.
It’s unclear if Provost has an attorney. A number listed for a Roger Provost in Laconia was disconnected.
