MANCHESTER — As a result of Eversource’s ongoing efforts to better serve its customers and to enhance system reliability, the company reduced the number and length of power outages during the summer months in 2019 compared to the previous year.
June through August of this year also represented the company’s strongest summer reliability performance since 2013 – the first full year following the merger in 2012 between Northeast Utilities and NSTAR Electric & Gas.
“At Eversource, we’re always working to serve our customers better with a smarter, more reliable electric system that can also help advance and integrate clean energy technologies now and in the future,” said Eversource New Hampshire Vice President of Electric Operations Joe Purington.
“We’re pleased that the investments we’ve made in the electric system are paying off and that our customers experienced fewer and shorter power outages this summer. We remain committed to enhancing the reliability of our electric system so that our customers have the energy they need to power their everyday lives.”
Across Eversource’s service territory in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, there were approximately 26 percent fewer outages during June, July and August in 2019 when compared to the previous year, and the average length of an outage was nearly eight minutes shorter during the same timeframe.
In New Hampshire, outages were down by more than 47 percent during the summer of 2019 compared to 2018. The average length of a customer’s outage also decreased by nearly 20 minutes for the same period.
