NEWPORT — The Newport School Board Superintendent Search Committee met on Monday, Oct. 28 to draft the job posting for the upcoming Superintendent’s position at SAU 43 to be hired for the upcoming school year.
The job description was formed using the information gathered in the community survey and competency criteria created by the committee. The posting will be distributed locally and nationally. Plans are to post immediately with a Nov. 22 application deadline.
Currently leading the district is Interim Superintendent Dr. Brendan Minnihan. “We are extremely pleased with the job Brendan is doing,” said Newport School Board member Ann Spencer who is also a member of the Search Committee.
“Dr. Minnihan accepted the superintendency as a one-year Interim, which has different priorities than the permanent position. That said, he is in an ideal position to decide if this job would be a good fit for him, in which case he is – like any other candidate – encouraged to apply.”
The committee next meets on Sunday, Nov. 24 to begin to evaluate the applications.
