Claremont Senior Center News: Nov. 2

BOO! Just wanted to get the last one in before we started hearing the “Gobble, Gobble, Gobbles,” followed by the “Ho, Ho, Ho’s.”

We are sure all of you have memories of hearing these sounds in the past. Please, take the time to write these memories down. So many wonderful family times are lost. Telling stories of how you spent the holidays is one way to introduce family history to the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

SPECIAL NOTICE! Please turn your clocks back on Sunday before you go to bed! Otherwise, you will be late for all the wonderful things going on at the Center.

The Gobble Gobbles will be heard all over the Center on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 5-7. Our tasty turkey dinner will be served with the following items: turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, vegetable and homemade desserts. Adults: $10. Children 10-and-under: $6. Open to the public. Takeouts available. Please call early.

The Center’s men will be serving up pancakes, bacon or sausage, juice and coffee for the Men’s Breakfast on Monday, Nov. 18 at 8:15 a.m. Members: $2. Non-members: $3.This is a chance to have coffee with the boys and solve all the world problems. Men only. Sorry ladies.

To continue the food talk, here is the menu for Tuesday and Thursday.

The trip to the Wright Museum of World War II in Wolfboro was a memorable trip for all attending. So much history and memories was experienced.

The boys are playing pool, the ladies are intensely active in Silver Sneakers (10:45-11:45), the smells from the kitchen remind us of lunch at 11:45 and we are looking forward to game night from 6-9 and playing Hand and Foot, Mexican Train Dominoes, Pool,Mahjong and Cribbage. Join us!

Speaking of cribbage, there is a signup sheet at the reception desk to start a group. Once we have a few listed, we will set a date for playing. However, you can play anytime. We have the cards and the boards. Bring friends.

Corn Hole will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 4-6. Join us!

Foot Clinic will be on Thursday, Nov. 7, Wednesday, Nov.13 and Wednesday, Nov. 20.

Thought for the Week: The ultimate source of happiness is our mental attitude.
