NEWPORT — The annual Veterans Day observance on the Newport Common Monday will start at 11 a.m.
Lance Harbour of Sunapee, a U.S. Army veteran, will give the Address of the Day.
The program includes the Invocation by William Halleck III; POW MIA Empty Chair, Robert Bachand; Pledge of Allegiance, Peter Lovely; National Anthem, Corina Fellows; welcome, Brewster-Gould-Lee-Rollins Post 25 American Legion Commander Bruce Richardson; Gettysburg Address, Jenna Maheu; Benediction, Halleck, firing of the cannon, William Austin Commerdinger and rifle squad and Taps, Post 25 Honor Guard.
Post 25 officials include Bruce Richardson. Commander; Robert Bachand, First Vice Commander; Lois Sturtevant, Second Vice Commander; Peter Lovely, Adjutant; William Halleck III, Chaplain; Arthur Demeis, Judge Advocate; Peter Sartwell, Service Officer; Robert Hennig, Sargent at Arms; Edward Rochford, Officer in Charge; William Rodeschin, Deputy OIC; Lois Sturtevant, Bugler and Lloyd and Leslie Hamilton, Cannoneers.
Members of the Post 25 Honor Guard include Robert Bachand, Thomas Currier, Arthur Demeis, Wilfred Gonyo, Leslie Hamilton, Lloyd Hamilton, Ronald Hand, Robert Haselton, Robert Kangas, Bruce MacDonald, Leo R. Paquin, Peter Sartwell, Hugh Tait and Thomas Verdicchio.
There will also be other activities involving Post 25 members prior to Veterans Day.
Thursday morning, Nov. 7, at 8, a free Veterans Breakfast is scheduled at the Newport Middle and High School cafeteria with a short program to follow at 8:45 a.m. Veterans will also be in attendance for a 10 a.m. ceremony at Richards Elementary School to be followed by a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at the Newport Senior Center.
Following the services on the Common on Monday there will be a noon lunch at the Veterans Club.
