BELMONT, N.H. (AP) — Police are trying to find a driver who fled following a crash near a church entrance in Belmont, New Hampshire.
The Laconia Sun reports the accident happened early Wednesday. An SUV careened across the entrance of St. Joseph Church before slamming into a railing and coming to rest on a retaining wall. A witness saw a man flee the vehicle.
Officers said a large section of the stone wall and a stair railing were badly damaged. Both were recently rebuilt.
The SUV’s owner told police she couldn’t advise them who had the vehicle at the time of the crash.
