NEW LONDON — The Kearsarge Regional School Board has recommended a school budget for 2020-21 calling for expenditures of $45,069,217.
That amount does not include three special articles that show a recommended increase of $279,009 to cover the Collective Bargaining Agreement reached between the Kearsarge Regional School Board and Para Educators Association of Kearsarge for 2020-21(Article 2); $25,000 to be placed in the Special Education Expendable Trust Fund (Article 3) and up to $50,000 to be place in the School Buildings Maintenance Expendable Trust Fund (Article 4).
Money to cover both trust fund articles shall come from unassigned fund balance (surplus funds) remaining on hand as of June 30, 2020.
Last year’s 2019-20 budget totaling $43,767,163 included the teachers warrant and the two trust account articles.
The proposed 2020-21 budget along with the three special articles will now seek approval by the Municipal Budget Committee when it meets on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
The first session of the annual district meeting (deliberative) is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020. That meeting will start at 9 a.m. at Kearsarge Regional High School.
The Deliberative Session shall consist of explanation, discussion and debate of warrant articles. Warrant articles may be amended subject to the following limitations: (a) warrant articles whose wording is prescribed by law shall not be amended and (b) warrant articles that are amended shall be placed on the official ballot for a final vote on the main motion, as amended, and as originally set out in this warrant.
Upon vote of the voters present and voting at the first session, the first session shall recess to reconvene at the second session of the annual meeting.
