Manchester man won’t be charged in fatal shooting

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — A man who killed another man while defending an injured friend in Manchester won’t be charged in the fatal shooting, the attorney general’s office said Thursday.

Adrian Welch, 29, shot Kevin Denbow, 37, on March 14. He told investigators that Denbow stabbed his friend after they caught him breaking into the friend’s car. Welch said his gun went off during a scuffle involving all three men.

In a report released Thursday, Attorney General Gordon MacDonald says while there were some inconsistencies in Welch’s story, the state would not have been able to disprove he acted in self defense.
