NEWPORT — Conservation efforts are underway for Newport’s original war documents, dates ranging from 1812 to 1907.
The successful grant application was written by Deputy Town Clerk Adelaide Kozlik and submitted to the New Hampshire State Library Conservation License Plate Grant Program. Newport will receive $9,335 and will work with Kofile of Essex Jct, Vt., to complete the project.
Conservation includes creating a digital record of the pages, cleaning, restoration and archival quality binding. The New Hampshire State Archive and New Hampsdhire State Library will receive microfilm copies of the documents per terms of the grant. Newport will receive a digital copy of the pages and binders containing the conserved pages.
This is the fifth grant that the Town has received for conservation of its historic documents totally more than $46,000.
