SCNS’ 12 Days of Christmas is creating a lot of excitement each day while guests anticipate who will be the next winner of $100 or more. The drawing occurs each day during lunch while individuals are enjoying their delicious home cooked meal.
Rebecca Fellows was the lucky winner of $100 donated by an anonymous business. Andrea Carmichael was the next winner of $100 donated by the same anonymous business. Alicia Wallace won the $200 donated by Claremont Savings Bank. LaValley’s generous donation of $200 was won by Georgann Wagner. Summercrest Senior Living’s $200 sponsorship, a first-time sponsor, was won by Joan Shields.
Next week we will share the results of the last three drawings with each drawing being $500. SCNS was very fortunate this year to have an anonymous donor along with Mascoma Savings Bank and Goodrich Oil sponsoring these $500 winnings.
There is still time to sponsor a twinkling clear light that will shine brightly in the center of the gazebo on the Newport common. Sponsorships are in memory of a deceased loved one or to honor a living loved one.
The cost is $3 per name or four names for $10. Thanks to our dedicated volunteer elves, sponsorships can be purchased at Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, Sugar River Bank and at the Newport Senior Center. All names will run on NCTV Channel 10.
The Newport Senior Center is now accepting 2020 membership dues. Membership dues are $10 per year. Any membership dues paid after Jan. 31 will be $15 per member. Membership dues are important to maintaining the center.
While at the center paying your dues, be sure to check out Alice’s Gift Shop. The gift shop is full of Christmas decorations and gifts for the holiday season. Starting Dec. 16, all Christmas items will be half price. With already low prices and then being reduced, you don’t want to wait too long to take advantage of the great deals. Shop now before it is all gone.
Believe it or not, 2020 is just around the corner. Yoga class will be back beginning Jan. 6. Classes will be each Monday from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Brianna Renner from Namaste Yoga of Newport will be the instructor. The price is $5 per class. A sign-up sheet is located at the front desk. If you have never done Yoga, try something new in 2020.
SCNS is in need of volunteers to greet and sign guests in for lunch. If anyone has one hour per week to share with us, please visit us in the office to learn more. We are also looking for permanent and per diem drivers for our Meals-on-Wheels program at our Claremont location. We are also seeking to employ a prep cook/cook for our Claremont kitchen.
Be sure to tune in next week to see who the three big winners are for our final days of the 12 Days of Christmas raffle.
