Health Care, Raschel Charles are top Chili Walk winners

NEWPORT — There were several winners in the annual Chili Walk competition in Downtown Newport Saturday night.

With 14 competitors, there were six winners, three in the Business Category and three in the Individual Category.

Sullivan County Health Care took top honor s in the business class with chili made by Joel LaCasse. His entry also polled the most votes from approximately 130 people participating. Their chili was distributed in the lobby of the county building . The winning group received a plaque.

Second place went to Salt hill Pub at the Library Arts Center Annex and third was Patient Rage with Rick Hamel at Petal Patch.

In the Individual Category, Raschel Charles topped the field at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home followed by Ashley Smith at Aurora Bakery and Matt Shepard at Century 21. Charles earned $100 with her prize-winning chili.

Proceeds from the event were split between the Newport Food Pantry and Willey-Perra Christmas Giving Program. Both groups received $526 each.
