HANOVER — Newport High School’s indoor track team tied for fourth place with 23 points among14 teams competing in Sunday’s afternoon track meet at Dartmouth College.
Nashua North placed first with 72 points followed by Keene, 43, Thetford Academy, 29. and Newport and Hanover, 23. Fall Mountain was 14th with 1 point.
Jagger Lovely led the way for the Tigers with a second-place finish in the 55-meter dash with a school record of 6.81 and a third place in the 300 meter, also with a school record run of 37.62.
Ryder Lovely posted a school record with his third-place finish in the 600 at 1:34.73. The boys 4 by 200 meter relay team garnered a second place in 1:39.73 with freshman Darren Janicke anchoring the team of Darshawn Chesser, Ryder and Jagger Lovely. Tim Fratzel and eighth grader Brooke Johnson posted solid times in their first indoor meet.
The team will compete again on Sunday, Dec. 22 at Dartmouth.
In the girl’s meet, Kearsarge placed sixth with 19 points and Fall Mountain was tied with Goffstown for 11th place with 6 points.
Mya Dube of Kearsarge won the 1000 meter run in 3:06; Kate Cochran finished third in the 55 hurdles and second in the 55 dash. The 4×200 meter relay team of Madelin Prak, Aly Frankawich, Cochran and Dube finished fifth. Annie Chambers and Conner Heath competed in the shot and 55 meter event.
Ross Fletcher competed in the long jump and 1000.
In the morning meet, Hartford girls rolled to a first place finish in the boy’s competition with 138 points. Kearsarge was 8th with 11 points and Springfield 10th with 1 point.
In the men’s morning meet, Mount Anthony was first with 98 points; Fall Mountain, 7th with 15.75 points and Springfield 9th with 6 points.
