LEMPSTER — James “Jim” Allard, 70, of Lempster, passed away surrounded by his loving family and friends, on Dec. 13, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Lebanon to the late Bruce and Esther (Cole) Allard. He attended school in Lebanon and graduated from Newport High School in 1968. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. Jim and his wife, Shirley (Whiting), were happily married for 49 years. He worked in several area sawmills, as a foundry man and retired in 2012 as a delivery driver for Casella. He was a humble man who enjoyed a simple life, which included spending time at home with his family and riding his Harley. A good day for Jim was being outside cutting trees, splitting firewood with the woodsplitter he designed and built himself, or simply tinkering on something that peaked his curiosity. His sense of humor and infectious smile will be remembered by many. He was predeceased by a sister Sandra Temple and a brother Bruce Cutts. Survivors include his wife Shirley; his daughter Renai Ferreira and wife Denise Ferreira; his son Brent Allard and wife Luann; his granddaughter Olivia Mountain; his grandson Luke Allard; his sisters, Maxine Truell, Christine Patterson, Martha Cutts; and his brothers, Tony Allard and Harvey Cutts. The family would like to thank Jim’s team at DHMC, LSVN & Hospice, VA Medical Center, as well as family and friends for their much needed support and for helping him to smile in his final days and hours. There will be no services, at Jim’s request.
