BELLOWS FALLS — Windsor got off to a hot start and they would only get hotter as Olivia Rockwood and Evelyn Page poured in a pile of three pointers in the second quarter that broke things open as the Yellow Jackets cruised to another win on Monday night.
With the Terriers’ Taylor Goodell netting 7 first quarter points to keep things close, Windsor exploded over the next 8 minutes as Rockwood was a perfect 5 for 5 and Page was 2 for 2 from beyond the arc to give Windsor a comfortable 44-17 lead at the break with a 25-8 advantage in the quarter.
Rockwood, who seems healthy after a bout with the flu said, “Sleep and lots of time on the couch did wonders. Tonight I thought we looked for the extra pass and our ball movement was the best we have had all year.”
With Windsor playing some tough in your face man to man defense, the Terriers were hard at work under the boards as Emily Bazin and Goodell got their share of rebounds but the shots just didn’t fall for BF.
Windsor would add to their lead in the third quarter as Windsor head coach Bruce MacKay’s depth of his team showed tonight.
“We had an excellent first half, we made the extra pass and played very unselfish basketball tonight,” he said. Nine Yellow Jackets would score on the night.
Bellows Falls began to hit their stride in the 4th quarter and outscored Windsor 18-11 when their shots finally began to hit their mark.
“Tonight was not a good night to not play our best, we will improve as we get past the toughest part of our schedule” said Bellows Falls head coach Todd Wells.
Rockwood would pace all scorers with 30 points and Page would add 10 points. For Bellows Falls Bazin and Goodell would lead the way with 10 points each and Halle Dickerson would end the night with 9 points.
Windsor improves to (3-0) while BF skids to (0-3).
In JV action, Windsor survived a 4th quarter run by Bellows Falls and ended up with a 38-31 win. Karen Kapuscinski netted 10 points while Olivia Kelley added 8 points for the Yellow Jackets. For Bellows Falls Abby Joslin would end the night with 10 points and Bre Stockman chipped in with 8 points.
