Fire forces hotel evacuation, 2 firefighters hurt

LEBANON, N.H. (AP) — An explosion and fire at a Lebanon hotel on Tuesday forced about 75 guests to evacuate and sent two firefighters to the hospital.

Fire broke out around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday after an explosion in a first-floor mechanical room at the Element Hotel, WMUR-TV reported.

Officials said there also was a small fire on the top floor of the five-story, 120-room hotel, which is part of the Marriott chain. Guests were moved to other hotels.

The injured firefighters were taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock medical center with non-life threatening injuries. A third person was hurt after slipping on ice during the evacuation.
