Lebanon holds off Kearsarge for 46-42 win

LEBANON — Kearsarge dropped a 46-32 decision to Lebanon in its season’s opener on Dec. 20.

“I was a tough opening quarter for the Cougars on the road against a top-ranked Lebanon team,” said Coach Nahan Camp.

The Cougars missed their first 12 shots falling behind early, 15-0, before Nick LeBlanc downed a three-pointer. Kearsarge got great looks at the basket from mid range and in the paint that wouldn’t fall, Camp stated.

Kearsarge was down 15-5 at the end of the opening period and trailed 29-10 at the half.

“They came out of the locker room with something to prove as they outscored Lebanon, 22-17, in the second half, including a 16-11 third-quarter advantage,” Camp noted.

Kearsarge started hitting shots and picked things up defensively. The Cougars were led by energetic sophomores Chris Stanchfield, 14 points, 11 rebounds and George Jallah, six rebounds.

Lebanon will return to action hosing Bisdhop Brady on Jan. 3 with tipoff at 6:30 p.m.
