Mt. Royal Academy splits a double header with Pittsfield

Mount Royal Academy girls basketball team survived a late comeback by Pittsfield and won in the last minute of play 36 — 29.

Mount Royal had the lead most of the game and at times lead by as many as ten points. The Knights went cold shooting in the fourth quartering so the Panthers go on a 6 -0 run to tie the game at 26 — 26. Pittsfield shot drained a three pointer and led 29-26but did not score again. Mount Royal scored the

last 10 points in the game sinking 8 points on free throws. SophieLarose who had a game high 17 points scored her last 6 point on the line.

The Mount Royal Academy boys basketball team ran into a hot shooting Pittsfield team and lost 62 — 33 at home January 8. The Knights kept it close in the first period only being down by 6 points but the Panthers took over the game in the second quarter hitting three trifectas and going into the half up by 26 points 39 — 13. The third was played evenly as the Mount Royal boys could not cut much closer and were behind 54 — 24. Mount Royal made a short run to start the fourth quarter scoring the first 5 points but it was to little to late and they lost to Pittsfield 62 — 33.
