NORTH SUTTON — The Cougars had a great home opener against a big, talented, well-coached Bishop Brady team.
Kearsarge came out aggressively on defense, mixing things up and converting offensively to take a 37-21 halftime lead.
Balanced scoring and great team rebounding (against a much taller team) led to the Cougar’s 65-58 victory.
Ben Carl had 14 points 5 assists, and 2 steals; Nick LeBlanc, 10 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals; Sam Carl, 10 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists; Brady Grzanna, 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists; Chris Stanchfield, 8 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists; and Tyler Sidmore, 7 points and 9 rebounds and Tim Flanders, 7 points and 2 steals paced the Cougars.
Kearsarge hosted Merrimack Valley on Monday, Jan. 6, and took a thrilling 48-45 victory over its local rival.
The Cougars, 2-1, were led by senior point guard Ben Carl 13 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals; sophomore forward George Jallah, 10 points and 5 rebounds, and sophomore guard Chris Stanchfield 9 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists.
Another well balanced team effort on both ends of the floor, getting huge contributions from sophomore guard Sam Carl, junior guard Nolan Grant, sophomore forward Adrian McCarthy, senior guard Nick LeBlanc and senior guard Brady Grzanna.
The Cougars hosted ConVal on Wednesday, Jan. 8 and travel to Laconia on Monday, Jan. 13.
