Kearsage battles Laconia for the win.

The Kearsarge Regional High School girls basketball team battled Laconia all game long but ran out of gas and lost by 20 points Tuesday night.

Kearsarge found itself in a hole early as they could not break Laconia’s full cost press and were down by 10 before scoring their first basket. Kearsarge began to chip away at the lead when they started to apply their own defensive pressure and were only down 9 – 14 after one.

The Cougars tied the game at 16 early in the second period but Laconia took back control of the game by sinking three pointers and at half time held a 4 point lead 29 — 26.

The second half was all Sachems as every time Kearsarge would start to get close, Laconia would sink a few more three pointers to increase their lead and by the end of the third Laconia was ahead 51 — 39.

Kearsarge tried hard to close the gap in the fourth, but Laconia shots continued to fall despite Kearsarge’s defensive pressure and Laconia won 65 — 45.

Laconia sank 9 threes on the night.

Jordan Busch was high scorer for Kearsarge with 16 points.
