LACONIA — Kearsarge traveled to Laconia on Monday, Jan. 13, and picked up a solid road victory against the scrappy Sachems. The Cougars were up at the half, 34-23, and ended up pulling away 61-45 thanks to strong defense, balanced scoring and great team rebounding.
Kearsarge was led by senior guard Ben Carl, 19 points, 4 assists, 3 steals; sophomore guard Chris Stanchfield, 18 points, 14 rebounds; senior guard Nick LeBlanc, 11 points, 5 rebounds; sophomore forward Adrian McCarthy, 7 points, 5 rebounds; senior guard Brady Grzanna, 3 points, 4 rebounds and senior forward Tyler Sidmore, 6 rebounds.
The Cougars moved the ball well offensively which led to many open shots, including 12 made 3-pointers on the night. Kearsarge is now 3-2 NHIAA, 4-3 overall and hosts Milford on Thursday, Jan. 16.
Kearsarge hosted top-ranked ConVal on Wednesday, Jan. 8 and gave them everything they had well into the final minutes of the fourth quarter.
It was a two-possession game with under four minutes to play, but foul shooting by ConVal and some empty possessions by Kearsarge led to a tough 61-52 loss.
