LANGDON, N.H. — In an effort to spur more students to eat the most important meal of the day, Fall Mountain Regional High School plans to use $5,000 in grant funds to create a mobile breakfast service.

The high school was awarded the grant from Kellogg Company and No Kid Hungry, a national hunger prevention organization, as part of Fall Mountain’s participation in the Elevate the Plate Challenge, an initiative by Kellogg and No Kid Hungry to reward schools for utilizing creative and innovative strategies to enhance their school meal program and increase student participation.

The grant award was announced on Monday in a press release from Jennifer Davis of the Kellogg Company.

“Many students prefer to stand outside to talk with friends while others are not aware that the school offers breakfast at all,” Davis said. “The team will use the grant to purchase a mobile breakfast cart for service throughout the building, helping to drive awareness of their offerings while providing a more convenient location to order a meal before the bell.”

Fall Mountain High School is one of 10 schools across the country to receive a meals program grant through participating in the Elevate the Plate Challenge.

“We are grateful and honored to be a part of this opportunity with Kellogg and No Kid Hungry,” said Jaca Hughes, food service director for The Abbey Group at Fall Mountain Regional High School.

“Three out of four public school teachers say students regularly come to school hungry,” said Jill Davis, chief revenue officer at No Kid Hungry. “But we know getting kids healthy meals at school is a critical step in ending childhood hunger once and for all in America.”

Kellogg’s support of No Kid Hungry contributes to the company’s goal of creating Better Days for three billion people by the end of 2030. Over the past four years, Kellogg’s and No Kid Hungry’s partnership has supported nearly one million kids gaining access to 154 million breakfasts annually.
