Weather Watch

It warmed up

As the end of February neared, there was no new snowfall rolling through Sullivan County but there definitely were some chilly winds throughout the day on Friday, Feb. 18. It was a cold, winter-type day.

The sun was out early on Saturday morning and the winds had definitely blown out of the area. The snow has taken a beating and the grassy areas are slowly resurfacing, another sign that spring is definitely on the way.

Friday, Feb 28, was a pretty cool day atop Mount Washington. The wind gust was 100 mph. At 7 a.m. on Saturday the temperature was -1 with a win chill of -31.

Warm weather moved in on Wednesday, March 3, and it was most welcome. The morning low was 38 degrees and the afternoon high soared to 57. Now that’s hard to beat, especially since it’s still winter.
